Some articles on the science of how one can do blood pressure testing from a fitness bracelet

The Helo Lx bracelet incorporates a PPG ( photoplethysmography  sensor) and an EKG plate. When you first get the Helo, remember to calibrate it.  I recommend doing it at your physicians office.  But as to the science, it is an estimation based on the information obtained by the sensors.   With each cardiac cycle the heart pumps blood to the periphery. Even though this pressure pulse is somewhat damped by the time it reaches the skin, it is enough to distend the arteries and arterioles in the subcutaneous tissue. If the pulse oximeter is attached without compressing the skin, a pressure pulse can also be seen from the venous plexus, as a small secondary peak. The change in volume caused by the pressure pulse is detected by illuminating the skin with the light from a light-emitting diode (LED) and then measuring the amount of light either transmitted or reflected to a photodiode. Each cardiac cycle appears as a peak, as seen in the figure. Because blood flow to the skin can be modula

Not all fitness trackers are equal...

When you are looking at a fitness band, we often buy the cheapest...  the one that barely performs what we wanted it to do, has no potential for expanding.  It's no wonder we become frustrated and stop using it.  Money wasted...   Sometimes, an investment in quality with the ability for upgrades is the better way to spend the money...  something that will meet your needs today, and in the future. Let me introduce you to HELO LX As you can see, the price point of Helo LX is comparable to the upper end fitness monitors.  But look at the features, especially the features being added! As you can see, Helo LX goes beyond a fitness tracker.  It is also the only one that is a business opportunity!  Just by buying a Helo LX, you become registered in the business...  all you have to do is share your personal website with anyone who asks about your bracelet....   Click here for more information!!

Why keep a blood pressure journal, or LifeLog with Helo? (Based on AHA recommendations article)

One blood pressure measurement is like a snapshot. It only tells what your blood pressure is at that moment. A record of readings taken over time provides a “ time-lapse” picture of your blood pressure that can help you partner with your physician to ensure that your treatments   to lower high blood pressure   (HBP or hypertension) are working. The American Heart Association recommends home monitoring for all people with high blood pressure to help the healthcare provider determine whether treatments are working. Home monitoring (self-measured blood pressure) is not a substitute for regular visits to your physician. If you have been prescribed medication   to lower your blood pressure, don't stop taking your medication without consulting your doctor, even if your blood pressure readings are in the normal range during home monitoring. Once you’ve purchased your monitor, bring it to your next appointment Have your doctor check to see that you are using it correctly an

A discreet solution to protecting our families

For me, one of the nicest features of the Helo LX is it's SOS and guardian* features. The continuous monitoring of Helo will be like a discrete friend in your life. Consider it a useful companion if you are in trouble. With the Panic Button, you can automatically contact your loved ones to signal you have a problem, sending a message with your GPS position. The SOS feature is great for me, because I have one less worry from my children; as a click of their Helo bracelet will instantly alert me to a problem. I will be able to know where they are, and thus better able to respond. This feature will also help me with my senior parents, as it will act as a Life Alert bracelet for a much better monthly price. This feature is included in the free monthly program, but only can alert 1 contact. Moving up to the paid monthly membership, for $12.00 monthly, your SOS can contact 3 members. It also unlocks the Guardian feature, where the Helo really starts to shine! The Guardian featu
